You Framed a Towel? Woop Dee Doo

For some reason I adore this - just a simple framed tea towel that brings so much color and fun into the home.

Herrera Life

Things I'm obsessed with: THE SKIRT, the dress, the COLORS, the art, the window, the bench, the other bench, the other bench, the chairs, the clean space....la la la I could go on. But really, how fabulous are Carolina Herrera's daughters and their home? So much inspiration to soak in. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Congratulations Chelsie M.! You're the winner of the Swank Boutique x Deepa Gurnani Giveaway! Expect an email from me :) And thank you to Swank Boutique & everyone who entered!

Color POP

I stumbled up Tamara Honey's tumblr Bitohoney Blog and spent a good amount of time in awe of how beautiful everything was - my favorite pictures were the ones with just a pop of color in an otherwise simple or neutral room. Such great inspiration!

All Things Pretty

Sometime during the 3 hour Bachelor finale last night (anyone else surprised by the outcome?), I stumbled upon Gretel. I fell in love with so many of the simple yet unique home accessories. I can't really tell you how ready I am to move out and have more than just my bedroom to decorate...

Blacked Out

According to Pinterest, girls like lots of white, light, and simple pretty spaces accented with plenty of gold and sometimes bright details (a wonderful example - & one of my favorites). So yes, I am obviously one of these girls. But for some reason I love the idea of black walls (or really just one black wall). I love the way these rooms above haven't lost their feminine feel. Another room I love is Alaina's (Live Creating Yourself/The Everygirl) bedroom. Not sure if I'd actually have the guts to paint a wall black, but it's a fun thought. What do you guys think?

Hope everyone has a great weekend! xo

Spotlight: The Gallery Wall

So about a month ago I was going to write a post about how I don't get this whole "gallery wall" thing - how I thought it looked sloppy and kind of grandma-esque. I stopped myself because our blog has become a quite positive & happy place so I figured I should keep it that way :) Flash forward to last week...I decide I need a gallery wall in my bedroom. I have issues (aka I'm wishy washy & spend way too much time on Pinterest). Anyway, I'm about to get started! I have a mirror I plan on incorporating & I just ordered a few adorable prints from Etsy (warning: my room may look like a kindergarteners when this is all said & done).

I'll be sharing my progress soon! Have any of you created a wall like this? Any tips? Or if you have any favorite Etsy shops, I'd love to hear! Thanks :) xo -O

Lake Bell's Vogue Home Tour

Maybe it's just me but I totally think of Lake Bell as like, kind of badass? So I was a little surprised when I found her home to be so cozy! It's also feminine and super chic. Obsesssssing. My favorite part is her mixture of dark & light furniture.

Two cool things:
1) Her mother is the interior designer behind this masterpiece
2) Lake is actually a lot like us (and by us I mean...us pinterest-loving girls who love coffee table books, gallery walls, white lacquer furniture, geometric prints, random decorative objects, etc etc).

Need a roomie, Lake?

Lately I Love

Lately I Love
  • Getting Organized - Been working non stop on organizing my closet this weekend - it's definitely a work in progress. More on this later...
  • Comfort Food - For me, chilly weather = grilled cheese on repeat. Honey truffle recipe looks AMAZE.
  • Carrie Underwood's Alice + Olivia Dress - Obviously Carrie was looking gorgeous as usual when she hosted the CMA's last Thursday. This dress was my fav! I really need it. And a budget to afford it. And somewhere to wear it ;) (source)
  • Embracing Leather - Just picked up some faux leggings (BEST Forever 21 purchase to date!) and I'm on the hunt to find a new (somewhat reasonably priced) leather jacket.
  • Office Space - Today marks my move from intern to full time employee at work, so sprucing up my cubicle (and possibly setting up a home office) is definitely something I'm looking forward to :)

Fall for Yellow

So my love for yellow started when my mom bought me a bright yellow tankini when I was 11 or 12. I have distinct memories of all of the counselors (aka the "cool" older girls) at summer camp telling me how great the color was and asking where I got it. Ok, super random story! But that's where my love for yellow began.

I usually associate the color with Spring and Summer (and my awesome tankini) but I do have a few favorite ways to wear the color in the fall:

1. Switch up the shade - think Mustard!
2. Add elements of black, brown, or both

Do you guys have any random memories that have influenced your style or the way you shop?

Interior Design & Someday Sofa

One Two Three // Four Five Six

In all honestly, I do not know much about interior design. Through my decor posts on Go for the Glam I am by nooo means claiming to be an expert (or even have any idea what I'm talking about...). All I know is that I love pretty spaces, unique shapes, and anything super girly. Ha. I'm dying to move into my first post-college apartment. I think that's what has sparked my interest lately. Interior design blogs (as well as Pinterest, obviously!) have opened my eyes to all of this beautiful inspiration and...it's kind of overwhelming? I'm already super picky about everything I buy, soo decorating should be interesting...but exciting. But for the time being, my decor posts are just a way for me to gather my ideas, plan for future purchases, and try to learn.

But ANYWAYS! The Chesterfield. I love this sofa style and have definitely added it to my must-have list for my future home. It's roots are from the 18th and 19th century, and I think it definitely has an old meets new feel. You can read more about it's beginnings on Apartment Therapy. -O

Trendspotting: White + Lucite

Although I love color, I often gravitate towards simple, clean decor inspiration. I love white decorative pieces, light colored linens, and my latest obsession - lucite furniture.

DIY: Bright Red Dresser

DIY Painted Dresser....Check off the To Do List.

Step 1: Find the furniture!

Step 2: Sand it down.
Step 2.25: Wipe down with a Tack Cloth.
Step 2.5: Prime it (sorry no pic!)
Step 2.75: Wait for it to dry!

Step 3: I first tried spray paint.
Step 3.5: Didn't like outcome--painted it.

Step 4: Enjoy your work!

Step 5: Add Accessories!

Yay! I am finally done with this project and ready for the next. This dresser was actually part of my grandparents bedroom set. The other piece went to my sister-in-laws for her to paint too! When I first saw this piece I realized 1.) its not getting used 2.) LOVE the shape 3.) I want it! My parents gave me the okay and off I went. My dad wasn't too happy at first with my choice of color, but I think he loves it seeing how he painted our new front door red! Love when that happens ;) There were more steps involved than I had anticipated, but I am so happy with the end result so it was all worth it! -M

I Got The Blues

pretty

Living Rooms, Navy

I got the blues and by blues I mean Navy Blue! As always, Pinterest sparks a light bulb in my head and gets me inspired. I would love to have a dramatic navy and white room like the three above. Unfortunately, I do not have the house nor the money to make those dreams come true yet. One day that will happen, but until then I settle with clothes or accessories for my room. I love the combination of navy blue and white because it's a classy look that you can accent with a pop of any color. What is your favorite pair of colors? Bedroom Makeover : Pillows

As I've mentioned before, I'm currently in the process of giving my bedroom a makeover. This makeover, however, has almost become a makeunder. I've painted by room a neutral color, purchased a creme colored upholstered headboard, & have decided to go with white bedding. So basically, my room is DESPERATE for some pops of color!

I am having the hardest time picking out the perfect pillows for my room. As I've been searching online, I've learned that I tend to gravitate towards subdued colors (mostly pink and yellow) but that I also like a little cool edge. Which pillows are your favorites? And why is picking out pillows such a challenging task for me? -O

Office Space Inspiration

Pinterest

Desk // Pillow // Bookshelf // Chair // Notecards // Pencil Cup // Print

Currently, my desk is nestled in the corner of my overcrowded bedroom. While I'm content with this layout for now, my dream is to someday have my own home office! I've been finding tons of inspiration on Pinterest for when that day comes. I love the idea of a clean, sleek space with small pops of color.
